Coexist

In this assignment for my Integrated Design 1 studio course, I was tasked with creating a headquarters for Friends of the Rouge, an organization whose mission is to protect and enhance the Rogue River. This building would not only act as a meeting space for the organization, but also act as a contact point for the public to appreciate the river through kayaking and walking the nearby trails. The site was a major factor in this project; we were required to address habitat, biodiversity, water dynamics, zoning, solar forces, as well as a steeply inclined slope in our design. After surveying the site throughout the semester, and collecting data on the natural features surrounding the site, I chose to mostly focus on habitat preservation and incorporating nature into the design which aligned with the Friends of the Rouge’s mission.
