Corktown Redevelopment

A Split to a Seam

This project centers around redeveloping an industrial district in the Southern end of Corktown, Detroit. A major asset of this site is the Southwest Greenway which is currently under development as a major pedestrian pathway in Detroit. This project aims to create a vibrant branch off of the greenway in order to build up the community of the area which is currently disconnected by industrial properties and vacant lots. By using a variety of greenspaces, historical and environmental research, building up residential and commercial districts, adaptive reuse of industrial buildings, and implementing mixed use developments the community will be built up and a sense of pride will be brought back to the area.
